Floodplain Management

Middletown Township entered Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA) Community Ratings System (CRS) in 2017 with the hopes of building upon local building and land use actions to mitigate flood damage and assist residents in savings and discounts on their flood insurance policies. Per FEMA, Middletown has 3,401 buildings and 4,623 acres of land in the Special Flood Hazard Area (SFHA). Regulating the flood zone and protecting properties from flood damage is a collaborative effort between our Floodplain Manager, Zoning Officer, Building Department, Emergency Management, and Department of Public Works and Engineering (DPW).
