MIDDLETOWN, NJ – At the Monday, March 3rd Township Committee Meeting, the Middletown Township Committee passed a resolution to authorize a lease agreement with the Monmouth Museum and Cultural Center to use a portion of the building for additional Middletown Parks & Recreation summer camps. The non-profit is located on Brookdale Community College’s campus at 765 Newman Springs Road in Lincroft.

“We are thrilled to be able to offer another summer camp location in addition to our existing programs at Croydon Hall and Poricy Park,” said Mayor Tony Perry. “Through this agreement, the Township will also be able to provide additional recreational and educational opportunities to our community all year round.”

Beginning this summer, the Young Discoverers (PreK ages 3+; must be potty trained) and Adventurers (Grades K-1-2) camp will be offered at Monmouth Museum. Registration for the Young Discoverers/Adventurers camp at the museum opens Monday, March 24th for residents and Monday, March 31st for non-residents.

“Our summer camp programs traditionally fill up very quickly so it’s nice to be able to expand to a new location and serve more community members than we do already,” said Janet Dellett, Middletown Parks & Recreation Director.

This 6-week camp will meet at the museum Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM and include time exploring exhibits, enjoying crafts, stories, and games, eating a snack in the picnic area, and playing outside. Every week will feature different activities. Kids can participate for just one week or the whole summer. Visit middletownnj.org/monmouthmuseum for details.

"We are excited to partner with Middletown Township to offer young campers a fun and engaging way to explore the Monmouth Museum,” said Erika Schaefer, Monmouth Museum Executive Director. “This collaboration allows us to inspire curiosity and creativity in our youngest visitors while introducing them to the arts, history, and hands-on learning in a dynamic, fun environment."

You can register for the summer camps at Monmouth Museum via Middletown Parks & Recreation’s new RecDesk portal. If you do not have a RecDesk account, please create one prior to registering your camper to ensure your account is up-to-date, including residency status and your child's age/grade for the 2024-25 school year.

Middletown Parks & Recreation’s summer camps are open to students from PreK to 9th grade and range from traditional camp options to educational and specialty programs. You can find additional information by visiting middletownnj.org/camp. Those interested in becoming a camp counselor can apply at middletownnj.org/recjobs.
