The Middletown Recreation Department offers a wide variety of job opportunities throughout the year.  Most positions are seasonal appointments lasting six months or less.  On occasion part time and full time positions do become available.  Please browse the list below of all open positions at this time.

​Summer Camp 2021

We are currently planning a reduced Summer Camp program for 2021.  Due to smaller number of campers registered, we will need a reduced amount of staff.   All summer camp staff will be required to work the entire summer camp program - no vacations will be permitted.  If you are currently planning a vacation during the weeks of camp, please do not apply.

Summer Camp Weeks:  June 28 - August 6
Summer Camp Training:  a variety of dates in June

All interested applications should submit an application and also sign up for one of our virtual WebEx group interviews via Sign Up Genius.  An email with the WebEx virtual link will be emailed out prior to the group interview.

Please keep in mind, COVID-19 procedures change often.  We may need to make adjustments with staffing and registrations as we get closer to the summer.  This may result in either additional staff needed, or possibly a reduction as well.

Interview Process
A group interview is required for all applicants. All interviews will take place virtually.  Please sign up for a session via Sign Up Genius.  The WebEx virtual link will be emailed out prior to the interview session.

Job Description
Camp Counselors will assist with leading, overseeing, and cleaning up for a variety of sports, games, crafts and nature activities. Counselors participate, energize, interact and supervise campers in all activities, including lunch, to ensure participation, safety and fun.

Essential Functions

  • Maintain and inventory all equipment necessary for the program area.
  • Ensure that the site is kept clean and organized.
  • Identify and respond to camper behavior issues.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate program records including incident reports and daily attendance.
  • Know and understand all emergency procedures associated with the camp program.
  • Know, enforce and follow all safety guidelines and the Code of Conduct associated with the camp. This includes but is not limited to being responsible for your campers’ safety and their whereabouts at all times.
  • Actively participate in staff training and meetings.
  • Help in other camp program areas as needed.


  • Minimum age of 16.
  • Experience in camp, youth programs, recreation, working with children, or in a related field preferred, or a strong desire to go into such field.
  • Ability to lead, plan, organize and implement program activities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.

Camp Locations
Croydon Hall, Poricy Park, Tonya Keller Community Center

Must be able to attend mandatory staff training dates in June.  A variety of options will be available.  Must be available to work the entire weeks of June 28 - August 6.  No time off during these weeks will be permitted.  There will be no camp on July 5, 2021. This job is Monday through Friday with hours 8:15am – 12:45pm, approximately.
