Naval Weapons Station Earle Commanding Officer Captain Ed Callahan Receives “Key to Middletown”
Captain Ed Callahan shows off the "Key to Middletown" that Mayor Perry presented him on behalf of the Middletown Township Committee.
Last Friday, Mayor Tony Perry and the Township Committee were honored to present Captain Edward L. Callahan, Commanding Officer, U.S. Naval Weapons Station Earle with a “Key to Middletown” on the day of his retirement after 40 years of honorable service to the United States Navy. Captain Callahan became the Commanding Officer in July 2020 shortly after the COVID-19 pandemic began. Despite the challenges he faced, he remained a steadfast leader and became an esteemed member of our community. On behalf of Middletown Township, we thank Captain Callahan and his wife Krista for supporting our events, such as our Memorial Day and Veterans Day parades, connecting with residents, and strengthening the relationship between Middletown and Earle. Please join us in wishing Captain Callahan and his family well as they turn the page to a new chapter and welcoming Captain Kent D. Smith who will now serve as Commander.
