[ARCHIVED] Registration Now Open for Spring Poricy Park Programs

Spring Poricy Programs - Registration Open for Pond Netting, Fossil Hunts, and After-School Science

There's lots to do at Poricy Park this spring! Registration is now open for After-School Science Club (K-3), Pond Netting programs, and lots of Guided Fossil Hunts. Also mark your calendar for Murray Farmhouse Open Houses and the Earth Day Watershed Hike!

Pre-Registration is required for all paid programs. Register online via Community Pass. Non-resident registrations are subject to out-of-town fees and begin on March 8th, 2022.

Spring Break Pond Netting
Monday, 4/18/22 (11:00am)

Tuesday, 4/19/22 (11:00am)

Find what's at the bottom of the Murray Pond. Look for frogs, turtles, and snakes. Use our nets to catch tadpoles, fish, insect larvae, snails, and other critters. Dress to get muddy! $5.00 per participant (PreK-6th).

Spring Break Fossil Hunts

The Poricy Brook Fossil Beds have Cretaceous-Era marine fossils in abundance, and spring rains uncover new treasures. Our guide will supply equipment for screening for fossils and identify your treasures. $5.00 per participant (Age 5 – Adult)

Earth Day Watershed Hike
Friday, 4/22/22 (10:00am)

Celebrate Earth Day by getting outside for a hike and learning about how you can help your backyard watershed. We’ll start under our green-roofed pavilion for an introduction to watersheds, and then follow the local watershed out to Poricy Pond and back. Hike is approximately 1 hour and covers 2.5 miles of moderate terrain, including some steep hills and stairs. Free!

Murray Farmhouse Open Houses
Saturday, 4/30/22 (10:00am-5:00pm)
Sunday, 5/1/22 (12:00pm-5:00pm)

The Murray Farmhouse is proud to be one of the 50 historic sites in Monmouth County opening its doors to visitors for the 2-day event “Weekend at Old Monmouth.” See this outstanding example of a middle-class colonial-era farmhouse and barn. Staff and volunteers will be on hand to give short tours and answer questions. Free!
