MIDDLETOWN, NJ – Mayor Tony Perry swore in six new police officers at the Middletown Township Committee Regular Meeting on Monday, July 19th. Police Chief Craig Weber and Deputy Chiefs Robert Stefanski, John Kaiser, and Paul Bailey welcomed new officers Robert J. Headden, Ryan Bruno, Shane Hosler, Dominick Librie, John Mania, and Sean Macdonald to the Middletown Township Police Department while their family members and fellow officers proudly supported them.
Officer Bios
Officer Robert J. Headden
Officer Robert J. Headden grew up in Union Beach and continues to live there with his wife. He graduated from Keyport High School and recently from Thomas Edison State University. Prior to his career at MTPD, Officer Headden worked locally at Naval Weapons Station Earle in Colts Neck, as well as the New York City Department of Corrections and the Hampton Roads Regional Jail. Officer Headden also served our nation under Operation Enduring Freedom and is an enlisted member of the New Jersey Army National Guard.
Officer Ryan Bruno
Officer Ryan Bruno was raised in Middletown and currently resides in Keyport. He graduated from Middletown High School South and Monmouth County Police Academy. He also earned his Associate’s Degree in criminal justice this year. Officer Bruno has served as a Special Law Enforcement Officer Class II (SLEO II) for the MTPD since 2016. He enlisted in the Air National Guard in 2019 and recently completed Basic Military Training at the Air Force Preliminary Explosive Ordinance Disposal School. Officer Bruno personally received a letter of recommendation from Police Chief R. Craig Weber after he assisted a person who had stopped their vehicle on train tracks while a train was coming.
Officer Shane Hosler
Officer Shane Hosler is originally from Byram and now lives in Point Pleasant. He graduated from Lenape Valley Regional High School, Elizabethtown College, and Ocean County Police Academy. He is currently attending Keller Graduate School of Management. Officer Hosler worked for the North Plainfield Police Department last year. He was active duty on the United States Coast Guard from 2014 to 2019 and has been part of the United States Coast Guard Reserve since.
Officer Dominick Librie
Officer Dominick Librie grew up in Paramus and is now a Middletown resident. He graduated from Paramus High School and studied at both SUNY Albany and Fairleigh Dickinson University. Officer Librie also graduated from Essex County Police Academy. Prior to his career at MTPD, Officer Librie worked as a public safety officer at Fairleigh Dickinson University, a dispatcher at Paramus Police Department, and at the Hudson County Sheriff’s Office.
Officer John Mania
Officer John Mania was raised in Middletown and currently lives in Jackson. He graduated from Middletown High School South, Middlesex County Auxiliary Police Academy, and Monmouth County Police Academy. He is currently working toward an Associate’s Degree in criminal justice at Brookdale Community College. Before joining the MTPD, Officer Mania worked at the City of Long Branch Police Department. He also volunteered for the Middletown Township Fire Department for 12 years at Station 9 River Plaza Hose Company and now volunteers for the Jackson Township Fire Department.
Officer Sean Macdonald
Officer Sean Macdonald is a lifelong Middletown resident and comes from a family of law enforcement. His brother is also an MTPD Police Officer and his father is a retired one. He graduated from Middletown High School North, Monmouth County Police Academy, and Montclair State University. Prior to his career at MTPD, he worked at the Monmouth Beach Police Department and Howell Township Police Department, where he received the Mothers Against Drunk Driving Award and was acknowledged as a Drug Recognition Expert.
