[ARCHIVED] Safety Rules For Using Your Generator

Nixle Storm Alert 6-16-20

Hurricane Isaias is still expected to move close to the Jersey Shore on Tuesday as a tropical storm, according to the latest forecast track from the National Hurricane Center. In preparation, Middletown Fire Prevention would like to remind residents of the following rules when using a generator as the tropical storm-force winds and potential for heavy rain could knock out power.

- 10 feet of clearance is required from any structure

- Use UL listed extension cords

- Ensure carbon monoxide alarms are functioning in all businesses/homes while using a generator

Contact Fire Marshal Buddy Skelly at 732-615-2272 with any questions.
