[ARCHIVED] Special Notice Regarding August 13th Planning Board Meeting

On August 13, 2018 at 6:30 p.m., the Middletown Planning Board is holding a special meeting for the sole purpose of conducting a master plan conformance review of the Circus Liquors Redevelopment Plan, which is the same process followed for any zoning amendments. This is not a hearing on the approval of the Redevelopment Plan, nor is it a site plan hearing, which can only take place after Redevelopment Plan adoption, the designation of a redeveloper, and the filing of a complete site plan application by the designated redeveloper.

The current PD zoning and approved General Development Plan of the Circus Liquor’s site that resulted from a decade’s worth of litigation, allows for 600,000 square feet of commercial development and over 400 units of housing. The proposed Redevelopment Plan reduces the intensity of the current zoning while imposing significantly more requirements on any prospective redeveloper that they will be bound to follow through the required entry of a Redevelopment Agreement.
