[ARCHIVED] Quartet of Street Signs Dedicated to Fallen Vets on May 13

The Middletown Veterans Affairs Committee will hold dedication ceremonies on Saturday, May 13th for a quartet of commemorative street signs that honor fallen veterans. The veterans’ families, neighbors residing on the street to be dedicated and the general public are invited to attend. The ceremonies will include a color guard and the playing of taps.  The schedule is as follows:

Crane Court              10:00 a.m.
Crane Court is dedicated to the memory of William W. Crane, who served in the US Army in WWI. The service will be held at the intersection of Bamm Hollow Road and Crane Court.

Henry Drive               10:45 a.m.
Henry Drive is dedicated to the memory of George C. Henry, who served in the US Army in World War II. The dedication will be held at the intersection of Park Avenue and Henry Drive.

Walling Avenue         11:15 a.m.
Walling Avenue is dedicated to the memory of Clarence C. Walling, who served in the US Army in World War I. The service will be held at the intersection of Main Street and Walling Avenue in the Belford section of Middletown.

Owens Avenue           11:45 a.m.      
Owens Avenue is dedication to the memory of Calvin Owens, who served in the US Army in World War II. The dedication will be held at the intersection of Navesink Avenue and Owens Avenue in the Navesink section of town

More than 50 signs have been added township-wide to honor Middletown veterans killed in action from World War I to present. The commemorative sign includes the soldier’s full name, an American flag, branch of service, campaign served and a gold star representing the gold star mother and family.

The Veterans Affairs Committee is seeking families of Middletown’s fallen veterans. Family members are encouraged to call 732-787-8510.
