[ARCHIVED] 3 Open Houses Scheduled About JCP&L's Proposed Power Line

The following information comes from an Asbury Park Press Article.

Jersey Central Power & Light has scheduled three open houses in early June to answer questions about its proposed $75 million transmission line that will run between Red Bank and Aberdeen.

The 230,000-volt transmission line, called the Monmouth County Reliability Project, would run along the New Jersey Transit's North Jersey Coast Line railroad tracks and right of way, connecting a substation in Aberdeen with one in Red Bank and going through Hazlet, Holmdel and Middletown. The line, and substation improvements along the 10-mile route, will benefit nearly 214,000 customers, the company said. The project must be approved by state regulators.

A similar project was beaten back by residents in the 1990s.

Residents will be able to learn more about the project at three open houses. The dates, times and locations are:

6 to 8 p.m. June 7 in the Student Life Center's Navesink Room 1 and 2 at Brookdale Community College, 765 Newman Springs Road, Middletown.

10 a.m. to noon June 8 at VFW Post 2179, 1 Veterans Lane in the Port Monmouth section of Middletown.

6 to 8 p.m. June 8 at the North Centerville Volunteer Fire Company, 372 Middle Road, Hazlet.
