The Township proposes to renovate an existing, heavily used baseball field at Croydon Hall into a modern, multi-use turf baseball field, adding to the existing athletic facility on the campus. Improvements include installation of a synthetic turf field designed to accommodate baseball and softball. Specifically, 46/60 and 50/70 youth configurations with portable turf pitching mounds, allowing flexible programming for multiple age groups. Additionally, a striped multi-sport area in the outfield to be used for flag football, or other sports as needed, maximizing year-round functionality of the park. The field’s existing lighting system will be upgraded to energy-efficient LED fixtures to improve visibility, safety, and sustainability.
Additional improvements include new fencing, backstop, dugouts, bleachers, a portable outfield fence, and a batting cage/bullpen. Pedestrian walking paths will be added to improve access throughout the park and connect users to the field. Site circulation and safety will be enhanced by widening the main drive at Croydon Hall and installing curbing along the driveway.
This project is envisioned as a permanent home for inclusive youth sports, including a “Buddy Baseball”–style program in partnership with Rally Cap Sports, currently serving Middletown. The improvements will enhance recreational opportunities, promote accessibility and inclusion, and ensure long-term, sustainable use of this community park.
