[ARCHIVED] Excessive Heat Warning through Friday, 7/28: Cooling Station at MTPL

Hours of cooling station at MTPL

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued an excessive heat warning through 10:00 PM on Friday, July 28th. The Township has a cooling station at the Middletown Township Public Library (55 New Monmouth Road) for community members in need.

Tips from NWS on beating the heat:

  • Drink plenty of fluids.
  • Stay in an air-conditioned room.
  • Stay out of the sun.
  • Check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances.
  • Wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing when possible.
  • Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening.
  • To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air-conditioned environments.
  • Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
  • Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergencyCall 9-1-1.
