Port Monmouth Flood Gate_news

Due to an impending storm, the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection has placed the Port Monmouth facility into Operational Mode. This is required to ensure the interior area doesn’t reach an elevation over +5 feet NAVD88 with the anticipated rain in the region. It also allows for the gates to open during low tide cycles so the water can move in and out of the basin to assist the eco system.

The storm is predicted to have heavy rain and windy conditions with the amount of precipitation during this tidal period predicted to be 1”. During this time, we are expecting Northeast to East winds at 25-35 mph with higher wind gusts possible.

All closures are based on storm and tidal predictions and can change as storms approach and pass through the region.
