Due to the impending rain and predicted tide heights, the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection will place the Port Monmouth Road Floodgate into “Spring Mode” at 10:00 AM on Friday, March 3rd. The floodgate will stay in “Spring Mode” until further notice. While in “Spring Mode”, the floodgate may be opened during low tide cycles to allow water in and out of the basin to assist the eco system.
Middletown is expecting 1-2 inches of rain beginning mid-day Friday and continuing through Saturday morning. Our Department of Public Works & Engineering will open our Wilson Avenue Floodgate to allow Township streets to drain. Easterly winds of 20-30 mph, with gusts up to 40 mph, are also anticipated.
We advise residents to register for the Township's emergency communications platform, Nixle, to receive emergency weather alerts. You can text MIDDLETOWNNJ (no spaces) to 888-777 or visit www.middletownnj.org/NIXLE to register.
