[ARCHIVED] Mayor's Food Basket Donates More than 3 Tons to Food Pantry

Thanks to the overwhelming support of the community, the Mayor’s Food Basket has added more than three tons of food to the Middletown Food Pantry this holiday season.

More than 6,500 pounds of food has been donated since Thanksgiving. Donations were made by residents and businesses, youth groups, and community and civic organizations. Donors included Saker Shoprites Inc, VFW Ladies Auxiliary 2179, Daisy Troop 163 and Cub Scout Pack 205 - Den 1 just to name a few.

“The outpouring of support from the community was overwhelming,” said Mayor Stephanie Murray, noting that contributions more than tripled compared to the 2014 holiday drive. “I’m so proud that community responded to the call to help neighbors in need this holiday season.”

Donations are accepted at the Middletown Food Pantry year round. The pantry is located at Middletown Social Services, 185 Main Street, Port Monmouth. Non-perishable items, personal hygiene and cleaning supplies are always appreciated. Call 732-615-2085.
