[ARCHIVED] How to Understand Your Property Tax Assessment

Assessment Postcards November 2022_news

Assessment postcards were mailed on Wednesday, November 23rd detailing the new assessment for 2023. Visit www.middletownnj.org/assessment for information and resources to help you better understand the reassessment process.

Use the Monmouth County Tax Estimator to gain insight about the estimated 2023 tax rate and review the top 10 most frequently asked questions to help you better understand the reassessment process. You can search for specific information on your property's assessed value, the reassessment, and the impact on your tax bill.

Please note that assessments are based on real estate sales of properties within the Township. View an interactive map of recently closed comparable sales. The interactive sales map is filtered to remove distressed sales. Use the Monmouth County record search to view all sales.

If you believe that your new assessment does not accurately reflect the market value of your property based on recent sales, you may file an appeal at secure.njappealonline.com. Before filing an appeal, we advise you to first speak with our Tax Assessor. Please call the Tax Assessor's Office at 732-615-2089 to schedule an appointment. Read a guide to assist property owners in preparing for an assessment appeal hearing.
