WHAT: Middletown Township will be holding a silent memorial service to observe the 21st anniversary of the 9/11 World Trade Center terror attacks. Middletown Township Fire Chief Bernie Chenoweth will then toll a bell 37 times in memory of the 37 residents lost. The final tolling of the bell will begin a silent candlelit procession through the World Trade Center Memorial Gardens.

The Middletown Survivor Tree, a descendant of the 9/11 Memorial Survivor Tree that endured the World Trade Center terror attacks, will be on public display for the first time at the ceremony. It was donated by NYC Parks in May 2022. It is the first clone produced from a cutting of the original tree that was given to a municipality outside of New York City.
