For Immediate Release – March 13, 2018

MIDDLETOWN, NJ – Snow may be falling, but the Middletown Township Recreation Department is gearing up for a fun-filled 2018 summer camp season! Summer camp registration begins online at midnight on Thursday, March 15th and in-person starting at 9:00 a.m. Visit www.middletownnj.org/signup to register online. You can register in-person at the Recreation Administrative Offices located inside the Nature Center at Poricy Park, 345 Oak Hill Road. Registration can be made for family members only.

“The Recreation Department has added a few options to better meet the needs of our Middletown families, including a trip-based camp for older campers,” said Mayor Stephanie Murray.

Additionally, the department has opted to go green and will not be printing an annual summer camp guide. Instead, families can visit www.middletownnj.org/camps to view all camp options.

“This summer’s lineup of programs includes the usual favorites at Croydon Hall, the preschool program at the Tonya Keller Community Center, and educational science camps at Poricy Park,” said Recreation Director, Janet Dellett. “Each week of camp has a different theme or entertainment.”

Sign up for one week or sign up for them all! Camps start the week of July 9th and are designed for children age 3 through grade 9. Programs are based upon the child’s grade in which they are entering in Fall 2018.

New for 2018 is a four-day travel camp for children entering grades 7–9, known as the Trail Blazers. All camp options run for six weeks beginning July 9th and ending August 17th. Looking for camp earlier in June or later in August? Middletown Recreation will also be offering a wide variety of specialty camps through partnerships with professional companies.

Specialty camps for 2018 include full and half day options in Revolutionary Kids, Marine Science, Snapology, Drobots and the US Sports Institute. Campers will travel 250 years back in time to a historic 18th century farmhouse, focus on the preservation of the marine ecosystem, study STEAM subjects through brick-building, or learn basic drone maneuvers and safety. If campers are more interested in sports and games, they can choose from a week-long multi-sport camp featuring over 15 different types of sports, or focus on a single sport (soccer, basketball, golf, volleyball, lacrosse or tennis).

For more information, visit www.middletownnj.org/camps or call the Recreation Office at 732-615-2260. Non-residents can register starting on March 22nd via the Community Pass website.
