Parking Permits
UPDATE: Parking permit renewal for the 2026 calendar year was originally expected to begin in February, but was able to begin on Friday, January 2nd.
Middletown Township offers parking at the train station and Academy bus stops along Route 36 (this does not include the parking lot at exit 109). Parking permits are required and are issued by the Township Clerk's Office. These are annual permits and no refunds will be issued for permits once mailed.
Daily Parking
The Daily Metered Parking Lot on Church Street is located across from the Train Station. A fee of $5.00 per day can be paid at the convenient parking kiosk located in that lot.
2026 Parking Permit Applications
PARKING PERMITS ARE VALID JANUARY 1ST THROUGH DECEMBER 31ST. THE FULL YEAR PAYMENT WILL BE DUE UPON RENEWAL. Online credit card payments are subject to a convenience fee which will be added upon checkout.
NEW ONLINE APPLICANTS: If you are a first-time online applicant, you can apply using the Commuter Parking Permit link. Under Application Type, select "New" and complete the application. Payment will be required at the time of submission using our new online payment processor.

2026 PARKING PERMIT FEES
Main Railroad Lot (Church Street): $315.00 Resident and Non-Resident
Bus Lots (along Highway 36): $110.00 Resident and Non-Resident
IMPORTANT PERMIT INFORMATION:
- Renew permit prior to expiration (December 31st).
- Permits are nonrefundable.
- You can pay via credit card if you apply with the Commuter Parking Permit link. The only credit cards we currently accept are VISA and Mastercard. We DO NOT accept commuter cards for payment.
- We will immediately begin processing permits in the order they are received. Continue using your old permit until you receive the new one in the mail.
- Replacement fee for a lost Main Railroad Permit is $100.00. A lost property report must be filed with the Police Department and a copy submitted to the Clerk’s Office before a permit can be replaced.
- Paper applications may be dropped off in person along with payment and stamped self-addressed envelope. Permits will be processed in the order they are received. No permit will be issued while you wait.
- Main Lot permit holders may park in the commuter bus lots. Bus Lot permit holders may only park in the designated bus lots along Route #36 in Middletown Township.
- Purchase of a permit does not guarantee a space in the lot.
- Permits are transferable among insured vehicles registered within your household.

By Mail or in Person
You may still apply by mail or in person by downloading the application (Fillable PDF) and returning the completed, signed application to: PARKING PERMITS, Township of Middletown, 1 Kings Highway, Middletown, NJ 07748, along with a stamped, self-addressed envelope, and a check made payable to the Township of Middletown in the appropriate amount for the permit you will be renewing.
