Volunteers Needed for Middletown Township Police Department Domestic Violence Response Team


Middletown Township Police Department is currently recruiting volunteers to serve on the Middletown Domestic Violence Response Team (DVRT). In affiliation with 180 Turning Lives Around (180), and with the assistance of the response team volunteers, Middletown Township Police Department continues to make available this service to victims of domestic violence during the initial stages of a highly emotional and traumatic experience. 180 will be conducting an intensive 40-hour mandatory training course for Domestic Violence Response Team (DVRT) volunteers October 1-24, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, 6:00pm-9:30pm in the courtroom at Ocean Township Police Department 399 Monmouth Road, Ocean Township. Applications are currently being accepted.

Pay Off Your Library Fines With Food Bank Donations Through August 31st

FOOD FOR FINES

Pay off  your library fines while doing some good by participating in the MTPL's "Food for Fines" program through August 31st. Each non-perishable food item donated will eliminate $1.00 of late fees from a cardholder’s account, up to a maximum of $10.00 (although patrons are welcome to donate as much food as they want). Fees associated with lost materials and collection agency fees cannot be waived through this program. No expired food will be accepted.

MTPL will bring donations to all of the local food banks on a weekly basis, including Middletown Helps Its Own, Calico Cat, Project Paul and Lunch Break.

In addition, any Middletown student (17 years & under) who cannot check out books because of a lost library card or late fines can get a digital library card. Students can do their Summer Reading through Overdrive and Hoopla using these cards. Digital library cards are available until August 31st at the Reference Desk.

Expanded Hours for Middletown Recycling Center through
August 17th


To help accommodate residents after the recent storms, the Township has expanded its hours of operation at the Middletown Recycling Center, located at 52 Kanes Lane, for brush drop off. The Recycling Center will be open 7 days a week from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM through August 17th

Traffic Alerts

Palmer Avenue Closed for Road and Drainage Improvements 


Palmer Avenue (County Road 7) is closed at Middlewood Road for road and drainage improvements. No thru traffic. Detours will be in place. If you would like an update on the detour, please call the County at 732-431-7760. 


Monmouth & Navesink Avenue Road Closure Update

Gray Supply has been working in the area of Monmouth Avenue and Navesink Avenue replacing gas lines. They are anticipating the work will be completed this month. While they are working roads will be intermittently closed in the area and detours will be in place.


Route 35 Construction Project 

 
Construction work on Route 35 began Monday, May 6th northbound from Cooper’s Bridge (Red Bank) to Cherry Tree Farm Road and southbound from Cherry Tree Farm Road to New Monmouth Road.

Road work will be done with temporary lane closures from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM and from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM. All work is weather-dependent.

The project, which consists of repairs and replacement of concrete vertical curb, installation of public curb ramps, repairs to drainage structures and resurfacing of the roadway, is estimated to be completed by December 2019.
 
Please keep an eye out for possible changes to the schedule.
