Middletown Remembers Fallen Soldiers at Annual Memorial Day Parade

American Legion Post 338 in Leonardo held its annual Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 27th to honor those who have fallen in the line of duty. Firefighter Fred Gorsegner, a 50-year volunteer of Middletown Fire Company No. 1, served as the Grand Marshal of the parade while hundreds of residents lined the streets to honor and remember the servicemen and women who gave their lives for our freedom. Many thanks to the organizations that participated in this beautiful tribute.

After the parade, there were several speakers at American Legion Post 338 who reminded the community about the importance of Memorial Day and paying homage to those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. Mayor Tony Perry echoed this sentiment and recognized his guest of honor, Anita Keyser, the sister of U.S. Army Corporal and Medal of Honor recipient Horace "Buddy" Thorne. Perry commended Anita for embodying the spirit of remembering those we have lost and encouraged others to follow her example. This was followed by a laying of wreaths, rifle squad, and playing of Taps.

IMA Urgent Care and Family Practice of Middletown Patients Donate Water Bottles to MTFD

Integrated Medical Alliance (IMA) Urgent Care of Middletown and Family Practice of Middletown patients recently donated 36 cases of water to Middletown's 11 fire companies to be distributed during emergencies. Thank you to all who donated!

Join Middletown Recreation for a Colonial Tea ceremony in our historic 18th century farmhouse where a period-dressed interpreter will be on-hand to instruct in colonial manners. Additionally, children will craft an 18th century toy.

Road Closures & Detours

On Monday, June 3rd Cherry Tree Farm Road (in front of Mater Dei) will be down to one lane between 7:30 AM - 3:00 PM.

Detours will be in place Monday, June 3rd through Thursday, June 6th on Middletown Lincroft Road between West Front Street and Newman Springs Road between 7:30 AM - 5:30 PM.

Route 35 Construction Project

Construction work on Route 35 began Monday, May 6th northbound from Cooper’s Bridge (Red Bank) to Cherry Tree Farm Road and southbound from Cherry Tree Farm Road to New Monmouth Road.

Road work will be done with temporary lane closures from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM and from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM. All work is weather-dependent.

The project, which consists of repairs and replacement of concrete vertical curb, installation of public curb ramps, repairs to drainage structures and resurfacing of the roadway, is estimated to be completed by December 2019.
