Township Unveils Plastic Toy Donation & Plastic Bag Collection Bins at Middletown Recycling Center

Mayor Tony Perry cut the ribbon for the new plastic toy collection bin along with representatives of Second Chance Toys, the Middletown Green Team and the Department of Public Works.

On Saturday, April 27th, the Middletown Green Team and Department of Public Works hosted a "Spring Clean & Go Green" recycling event at the Middletown Recycling Center (52 Kanes Lane). During the event, Mayor Tony Perry cut the ribbon for two new collection bins that will help residents recycle: a plastic toy donation collection trailer and a plastic bag collection bin. 

Middletown has partnered with Second Chance Toys
 to collect plastic playhouses, and other gently-used plastic toys, that will be given to underprivileged children. Click HERE for additional information. The Township has also partnered with ShopRite (Hwy 35 & Harmony Road) to collect and re-purpose plastic bags. Residents can bring clean single-use plastic shopping bags to the Middletown Recycling Center and place them in the new bin. Thank you for supporting the Township's recycling efforts!

"Great Kindness Challenge"

Mayor Tony Perry reminded the children that being kind to others shows leadership and encouraged them to be leaders in our community. 

Mayor Tony Perry and Deputy Mayor Tony Fiore spoke at Port Monmouth Elementary School on Thursday, May 2nd to congratulate them on being the first school in Middletown to participate in the Great Kindness Challenge! The month-long event challenged students to go out of their comfort zone to lend a hand and show kindness to others. A big thank you to all the parents and staff who put this together, Middletown is a kinder place because of you!

On Tuesday, April 30th Committeewoman Pat Snell stopped by to congratulate Sebastian’s Hair-em & Day Spa (872 Hwy 36 in Leonardo) on their upcoming 44th anniversary as a family-owned all-female business in Middletown and their success as part of our small business community. We appreciate their ongoing support of local charities and for providing beauty and wellness services that help our residents look and feel their best! 

The Middletown Township Committee initiated the "Made in Middletown" campaign in May 2018 to help spotlight some of the local small businesses that are so vital to our town's economy.

Route 35 Construction Project Begins Next Week

Construction work on Route 35 will begin on or about Monday, May 6th northbound from Cooper’s Bridge (Red Bank) to Cherry Tree Farm Road and southbound from Cherry Tree Farm Road to New Monmouth Road.

Road work will be done with temporary lane closures from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM and from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM. All work is weather-dependent.

The project, which consists of repairs and replacement of concrete vertical curb, installation of public curb ramps, repairs to drainage structures and resurfacing of the roadway, is estimated to be completed by December 2019.
Please keep an eye out for possible changes to the schedule.

Chapel Hill Road Detour Through May 15th

Chapel Hill Road will be closed for NJNG natural gas line upgrades from Danemar Drive to Sleepy Hollow Road from 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM Monday through Friday until May 15th. Please follow posted detours & expect delays. Work is weather dependent.
