The Middletown Recreation and Public Works Departments, along with municipal engineering firm CME Associates, recently completed renovating the basketball courts at Greeley Park and Gordon Court Park in Port Monmouth. The courts had been destroyed after Superstorm Sandy when residents needed to move furniture and appliances out of their houses and store them there. The Township was able to use FEMA funds to refurbish the existing courts that suffered from faded striping, cracked asphalt, and outdated nets. Not only do the courts look much better, but they're safer and the backboard has a lot more bounce. At Greeley Park, they added new adjustable nets. Both parking areas were also improved through the addition of handicap accessible parking spaces and walkways.

MTFD Responds to Fire in Leonardo On Sunday evening, November 18th, the Middletown Township Fire Department responded to a fire at a home in Leonardo. Although the home sustained heavy fire damage, thankfully the resident was able to exit safely and was treated by Fairview and Leonardo Emergency Service Units. The MTFD was able to use one of its specialized ladder trucks that is designed to travel down narrow streets and reach elevated homes.
Brevent Park, Belford Engine, and Community Fire Companies responded to the call along with the MTFD Air and Safety Units. All units operated safely under the supervision of Middletown Township Fire Chief Ryan Clarke.
Thank you to all of our volunteers for their diligence!
