On Sunday, November 4th, VFW Post 2179 and Middletown Township held the 61st Annual Veterans Day Parade followed by a "Thank a Veteran" lunch at the VFW. The beautiful weather was a perfect backdrop to the parade where the greatness of Middletown shined as our community showed respect and gratitude to all of our veterans. Everyone enjoyed interacting with the veterans at the display tables and writing encouraging notes on the "Message to a Veteran" graffiti wall. This was also the first bike parade which added a patriotic flare and showed off some serious creativity!
Many thanks to the high school bands, Scout troops, Fire and EMS volunteers, and veterans organizations who participated in the ceremonies and celebrations. Click HERE to view more pictures of the parade.
THANK YOU TO ALL OF OUR VETERANS!

Westminster Presbyterian Church Holds Annual Field of Flags Ceremony

Pictured from left: Freeholder Gerry Scharfenberger, keynote speaker Monmouth County Prosecutor Chris Gramiccioni who was deployed to Afghanistan in 2014 as part of Operation Enduring Freedom, Committeewoman Pat Snell, Reverend Joseph Hein, Mayor Kevin Settembrino, and Committee members Rick Hibell and Tony Perry.
Westminster Presbyterian Church (WPC) held its annual Field of Flags ceremony on Saturday, November 3rd. This year’s memorial contains 6,932 flags. Each flag represents a serviceman or woman who lost their life in the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan, and this is only a fraction of the patriots who have died in defense of our great nation. It takes an incredibly special person to be willing to put their life on the line to protect the freedoms that we enjoy. WPC's Field of Flags reminds us of the true cost of that freedom.
We thank Reverend Hein and the WPC congregation for hosting this moving event.

Lincroft Fire Company Teaches Cub Scout Pack 210 About Fire Safety
|
|
|
|
Members of Lincroft Fire Company recently met with Cub Scout Pack 210 at Lincroft Elementary School to teach them about fire prevention. Throughout the month of October, our volunteer firefighters visited with elementary schools and children's groups across town to teach them about the basics of fire safety.
In the photo, Fire Captain Anthony Russo is demonstrating the Thermal Imaging Camera to show how equipment is used in a fire emergency. The kids also had the opportunity to check out a fire truck and all of its equipment. This was a fun way for children to get to know our first responders, inspire volunteerism, and learn about the importance of fire safety!
