Mayor Gerry Scharfenberger to Receive M. Claire French Award for Historic Preservation

Monmouth County Clerk Christine Giordano Hanlon  announced this week that Mayor Gerry Scharfenberger is the recipient of the M. Claire French Award for 2017 for his role in the preservation and maintenance of historical sites throughout Middletown Township and Monmouth County. Mayor Scharfenberger is a member of the Landmarks Commission, the Historic Preservation Committee, as well as the founder of the Friends of Macleod-Rice House. He has also been integral in the designation of many historical properties around MiddletownTownship.

The award will be presented at Monmouth County Archives and History Day on Saturday, October 14th at the Monmouth County Library Headquarters
CareOne Hurricane Relief Effort
CareOne at King James on Route 36 is collecting clothes to donate to the victims of Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria through Monday, October 9th. 

CareOne Is Collecting Donations for Hurricane Victims Through Monday, October 9th

For those wanting to help the victims of Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria, CareOne at King James is inviting people to drop off new or gently used baby, kids, and men and women's clothes, shoes, and new socks and underwear to their donation trailer. The items will be shipped directly to families in need in the affected areas. Items can be dropped off at the trailer located in the parking lot directly in front of CareOne1040 Highway 36, any time between now and Monday, October 9th at 11 AM.

Free Flu Shot Clinics for Middletown Residents on 10/12 and 10/20

The Middletown Township Health Department is accepting appointments for 2017 Influenza Clinics. The following dates and times are available:

  • Thurs., October 12th (Residents Ages 6 months and Older) 11:00am-1:00pm
  • Thurs., October 12th (Residents Ages 6 months and Older) 2:00pm-4:00pm
  • Fri., October 20th (Residents Ages 6 months and Older) 10:30am-12:30pm

The Immunization Clinics will be held at the Health Department, Bayshore Annex, located at 180 Main Street in Port Monmouth. The Influenza vaccine is provided free of charge to residents of Middletown Township. Please email Michele Jones at mjones@middletownnj.org or call her at 732-615-2000 x2164 to schedule an appointment. Appointments are set on a first come basis. Space is limited. Walk-ins cannot be accepted at these clinics.
