Middletown Minutes

Come Celebrate Middletown Day Tomorrow, 9/23!

Middletown Day returns to Croydon Hall this Saturday, September 23rd from 11 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.!

Please join us for this annual fall festival that has activities for people of all ages. There will be live entertainment, bouncy houses, pony rides, hayrides, a petting zoo, an interactive dive tank sponsored by our Emergency Medical Services Department, a food court, and a marketplace where you can get some early holiday shopping done. Exciting new elements include a 35’ pirate ship with reenactors, including pirate training, and dueling stage performances filled with magic, animals, dance & more!

The Business and Community Showcase, a major component of the day, highlights local businesses, community associations, and school groups that support Middletown. It’s a great opportunity to learn about the many businesses spread across the Township’s 42 square miles and meet the volunteers that work so hard to make Middletown a great place to call home.

Visitors should park at Bayview Elementary School and ride the free shuttle to and from the Middletown Day grounds. Continuous round trip shuttle services will be provided every 5 to 10 minutes. Parking is very limited at Croydon Hall.

The event will be held rain or shine. Free shopping bags will be given to the first 1,000 attendees. Visit middletownnj.org/450/Middletown-Day for more information.

Middletown Announces Township-Wide Garbage and Recycling Collection Program

Starting in January of 2018, Middletown Township will be aligning solid waste collection with the current township-wide recycling collection program.

The Township Committee chose to adopt township-wide garbage and recycling collection because there will be a cost benefit for the majority of our residents. “Through our Township-wide Garbage and Recycling Program, the vast majority of residents will see a cost savings, while others will remain flat or see a minimal impact, but all residents will receive enhanced services,” explained Mayor Gerry Scharfenberger. “However, if we maintain the status quo, there would be a cost increase for 100 percent of all residents.”

Information about the Township-wide Garbage and Recycling Program will be available at the Information Booth at Middletown Day.
