MTFD and Fire Prevention Inform Residents about Fire Restrictions Currently in Effect
Middletown Township has been placed under a Red Flag Warning by the US National Weather Service Philadelphia/Mount Holly and New Jersey Forest Fire Service. A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now or will shortly due to a combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and dry fuels. Any fires that develop may quickly get out of control and become difficult to contain.
Under a Red Flag Warning, ALL fires in wooded areas will be prohibited unless contained in an elevated stove using only propane, natural gas, gas, or electricity. This includes all fire pits, fire stoves, chimineas, drums, etc. that are fueled by a wood-based source. No charcoal fires are allowed. This also includes any flammable liquid items, such as tiki torches, outdoor candles, etc.
The MTFD and Fire Marshal's Office remind our residents to please discard any smoking materials fully.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Fire Marshal Buddy Skelly at 732-615-2272.
