Mayor Tony Perry presents Bob with the 2023 Veteran of the Year Award as VAC Chairman Dennis Beauregard and the Middletown Township Committee proudly congratulate him.

Middletown Township was honored to recognize Robert W. Siemer as the recipient of the 2023 Dennis J. Beauregard Veteran of the Year Award. The award was introduced in 2022 and is named after the current chairman of the Middletown Veterans Affairs Committee (VAC) who is a passionate advocate for veterans in our town and across the state. The award is based on documented acts of selfless service and going the “extra mile” beyond their job post military career. Bob served in the U.S. Army from 1968 to 1971 during the Vietnam War and held the rank of First Lieutenant with the 1St Cavalry Combat Engineer from 1970 to 1971. He earned many service ribbons, such as the National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Air Medal, Bronze Star, and the Soldier’s Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster. For the past 6 years Bob has served on the VAC where he enjoys helping local veterans enhance their quality of life. He has worked tirelessly to help veterans file claims for Disability Compensation. Bob also spearheaded the Township’s “Thank a Veteran” program where he coordinates with local businesses to provide discounts to veterans to help honor them all year long. Bob has served on several Veterans Affairs committees, works with our youth to ensure Middletown’s war memorials are maintained, visits local schools to educate them about the Vietnam War, and teaches scout troops about the history and proper handling of the U.S. flag. He is a pillar of the community and should be commended for his exemplary military service, outstanding community service, and endless encouragement to other local veterans. Click HERE to view photos from the award presentation. Click HERE to watch the meeting on the Township's YouTube channel or catch it on our TV channel (Verizon FiOS Channel 26/Comcast Cable Channel 20) every night at 5:00 PM and 8:30 PM through Sunday, April 7th.
