George McGowan was surrounded by his sons and fellow volunteer firefighters, MTFD chiefs, and the Township Committee when he was presented a Key to the Township for his 50 years of dedicated service.

At Monday's meeting, the Township Committee recognized Belford Engine Fire Company volunteer George McGowan for 50 years of service to the Middletown Township Fire Department (MTFD). George graduated from MTFD's first fire academy class and was the first captain to serve Belford Engine for two years in a row in 1984 and 1985. He has also completed numerous pieces of training, been part of multiple committees, and served in several positions. George has made 1,500 fire calls throughout his career, and we are incredibly grateful for his volunteerism and dedication to our community. The Township Committee also recognized Judge Steven P. Monaghan for his seven years of service in our Municipal Court. For nearly a decade, he helped instill safety, law, and order to Middletown. Congratulations to these two exceptional men! Mayor Perry Drops Ceremonial Puck at NJ Titans Military Appreciation Game
Mayor Tony Perry kicks off the game with the help of his son Grant!
Last Friday, Mayor Tony Perry stopped by Middletown Sports Complex to drop the ceremonial puck prior to the New Jersey Titans’ Military Appreciation game! Many local organizations were in attendance, including members of our Veterans Affairs Committee, who were all displaying patriotic pride. There were two home games last weekend where all proceeds were donated to the New Jersey National Guard Soldier and Family Readiness Group, including funds raised from an auction for the specialty jerseys worn by the players during these games. The donation is in honor of Middletown resident and volunteer firefighter Sergeant Gia Mazza who is currently deployed overseas with her unit. On Saturday night, Sgt. Mazza’s sons, Louis and Vito, dropped the ceremonial puck. We appreciate the New Jersey Titans for honoring and supporting the brave men and women who serve our county in this special way.
