On Tuesday, Mayor Tony Perry and Township Administrator Tony Mercantante joined Habitat for Humanity in Monmouth County (HFHMC) for the dedication of their 61st home, located at 27 Ideal Avenue in North Middletown! Sponsors, donors, and elected officials joined HFHMC for this special event as they officially presented the house to new homeowner Amanda Finn and her children Savannah and Brendan. Middletown's involvement in this home began years ago when the Township donated the land to HFHMC. In June 2022, Township officials were honored to visit the property with HFHMC and nonprofit Catholic Daughters of the Americas, who were there to present HFHMC with a generous check. This past May, Mayor Tony Perry and Township Administrator Tony Mercantante revisited the site and joined HFHMC and Catholic Daughters of the Americas for the groundbreaking. Many people, nonprofits, and businesses played a part in creating this home, and Middletown is grateful for its role in this journey. Congratulations to HFHMC for this wonderful success and congratulations to the Finn family on their new home!

New Jersey American Water Plans for Temporary Water Treatment Changes in Monmouth County
As part of an annual maintenance program for its water distribution system, New Jersey American Water (NJAW) will temporarily change the water treatment process from a chloramine (combination) residual to free chlorine residual at the company’s Swimming River Water Treatment Plant in Colts Neck and its Jumping Brook Water Treatment Plant in Neptune. The temporary treatment process will begin the week of February 12, 2024 and continue until mid-April 2024. During this period, some customers may notice a slight taste and smell of chlorine in their water. This is normal and will only be temporary until the system maintenance is complete. Customers who wish to reduce the taste of chlorine can place water in an uncovered glass container in the refrigerator overnight to dissipate chlorine faster. Click HERE to read NJAW's full press release.
