Middletown Day 2021 9/18
We are thrilled to announce that Middletown Day will return to the Great Lawn at Croydon Hall (900 Leonardville Road) this year on Saturday, September 18th from 11 AM - 5 PM! As we emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic, let us come together to celebrate the resiliency of our community and all that makes Middletown so exceptional.

The 2021 festival will feature the return of the popular Business and Community Showcase as well as many familiar favorites, redesigned with safety in mind, including a food court, first responder demonstrations, live entertainment, a petting zoo, and more.

Again this year, the Township is offering a sponsorship opportunity for its very successful Mayor’s Challenge 5K Race and 1-mile Fun Run to be held on Saturday, October 23rd at Poricy Park (345 Oak Hill Road). This event will raise money to benefit the 501c3 organization, Infinite Love for Kids Fighting Cancer.

Event is rain or shine.

Middletown Township held a memorial service at the Middletown World Trade Center Memorial Gardens, located next to the Middletown Arts Center (36 Church Street), on Saturday, September 11th in honor of the 20th anniversary of the World Trade Center attacks.

“Twenty years ago, Middletown tragically lost 37 residents – our community and our Nation rushed to their side,” said Mayor Tony Perry. “This year’s anniversary ceremony brought us back together to honor and remember those individuals and keep their spirits, and the spirit of patriotism, alive.”

Girl Scout Troop 127 Dedicates Leonardo Beach Signs

Leonardo Beach Sign Dedication
From left: Mayor Tony Perry, Committeewoman Kimberly Kratz, Maureen Raisch (a representative of the Mayor's Office), and Maureen's dog, Spike, proudly stand with Girl Scout Troop 127 in front of one of the two beautiful Leonardo Beach signs!

Last weekend, Mayor Tony Perry, Committeewoman Kimberly Kratz, and Maureen Raisch (a representative of the Mayor’s Office), attended Girl Scout Troop 127’s sign dedication at Leonardo Beach. The troop worked through our Clean Communities Mini Grant Program to install the two signs, as part of their efforts toward a Journey Badge. The group of seven, led by Stacy Slater, fundraised by participating in a beach cleanup at Leonardo Beach in July. Inspired by the 250 pounds of trash they recovered, the new signs read "Leave only footprints of love and kindness wherever you go."

After six months of hard work, the girls accomplished their goal of earning their Journey Badges and adding these two wonderful signs! Thank you Girl Scout Troop 127 for making a positive impact in our community!

Spotted Lanternfly

State Authorities Urge Residents to Report Invasive Spotted Lanternflies

After increased sightings in Monmouth County, the Middletown Health Department advises the community to be aware of the Spotted Lanternfly. The Spotted Lanternfly is a serious invasive pest that feeds on sap from over 70 different plant species. It excretes honeydew while feeding, which results in mold covering the plant and anything nearby. While Spotted Lanternflies do not directly hurt humans or animals, they can negatively impact our agriculture, economy, and everyday life.

If you see a Spotted Lanternfly, take a photo of it and
report it to the NJ Department of Agriculture (NJDA) or call 833-4BADBUG (833-422-3284). The NJDA is urging anyone who comes across the insect to report and destroy it immediately to help slow the spread.

For more information about the Spotted Lanternfly, visit the
New Jersey Department of Agriculture's website. For additional resources from the NJDA about the invasive bug and how to help control the spread, visit the NJDA's Homeowner Resources.
