of the Year Award

Abe Littenberg Award Ceremony

Mayor Tony Perry and the Middletown Township Committee presented the 2020 Distinguished Citizen of the Year award to Abe Littenberg at the April 19th Township Committee meeting. Abe was recognized for his philanthropic leadership and for being an ardent supporter of Middletown businesses, especially during the
COVID-19 pandemic.

As Chairman of the Middletown Economic Development Committee, Abe supported the Township's "Takeout Thursday" initiative by creating a database of local restaurants to provide an easy way for community members to order meals from their favorite establishments during the lockdown period. Abe also created a COVID-19 economic recovery plan to help fellow business owners navigate the pandemic, all while continuing to run his own Middletown-based businesses, Guttenplan's Frozen Dough and A Child's Place School, a school he owns with his wife Linda. On behalf of Guttenplan's, a facility that produces frozen dough products, Abe also worked with Middletown Social Services and local food banks
to donate bread to those in need.

His personal and passionate commitment to bettering the lives of those around him is admired and appreciated. We are incredibly fortunate to call Abe one of Middletown's own. Please join us in congratulating Abe for receiving this prestigious award as well as a Key to the Township!

COVID-19 RESOURCES

Updated Travel Quarantine Guidelines from New Jersey Department of Health

Consistent with CDC's recommendations, the NJDOH has updated guidance for fully vaccinated persons as it relates to travel. Fully vaccinated persons should get tested 3-5 days after returning to the United States from international travel, but no quarantine following travel or test before travel (unless required by the destination) is needed. For domestic travel within the U.S., no quarantine or test before or after travel is needed for fully vaccinated travelers.

Travel recommendations for persons recently recovered from COVID-19 have also been updated. Similar to fully vaccinated travelers, persons who clinically recovered from COVID-19 in the past 3 months do not need to quarantine after travel. In addition, they do not need to be tested before or after travel, domestic or international.

All travelers should continue to wear a mask while traveling, stay 6 feet from others and avoid crowds, wash hands often or use hand sanitizer, self-monitor for symptoms during and after travel, and self-isolate should symptoms develop.
For unvaccinated travelers, or travelers who have not recently recovered from COVID-19, the self-quarantine is voluntary, but compliance is expected.

Updated Documents:

  • Current Restrictions on Travel
  • Recommended Minimum Quarantine Timeframes
  • Guidance for Fully Vaccinated Persons in Non-Healthcare Settings
