As we approach the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, the Middletown WTC Memorial Gardens Committee is raising money to add a fountain called “The Rise of Hope” that will be erected near the end of the memorial pathway, giving a quiet space to pause and reflect. They will also be honoring the heroism and patriotism of our First Responders with an additional monument.
If you would like to contribute, donations can be sent via PayPal to MiddletownWTC@gmail.com. You can also mail a check made payable to Middletown WTC Memorial Gardens to c/o Mayor’s Office, Middletown Municipal Building, 1 Kings Highway, Middletown, NJ 07748.

9/25/20: Route 35 Lane Closures Tonight Due to Intersection Improvement Project (Trenton) – New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials today announced left lane closures on Route 35 in each direction as an intersection improvement project advances in Middletown, Monmouth County. Beginning at 8 p.m. tonight, Friday, September 25, the developer’s contractor, CJ Hesse, is scheduled to close the left lane on Route 35 in each direction between Laurel Avenue and Cherry Tree Lane/Old Country Road in Middletown, Monmouth County and shift traffic to the right. This closure will allow the contractor to restripe the roadway. Two lanes will be maintained at all times.
After this phase of the project, additional lane closures will be required in the coming weeks to install new traffic signals and complete final paving. When the project is completed, it will create a new fully signalized four-way intersection which will enhance safety. The entire intersection improvement project is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors. Motorists are encouraged to check NJDOT's traffic website www.511nj.org for real-time travel information and for NJDOT news follow us on Twitter @NJDOT_info and on the NJDOT Facebook page.
