Mayor for a Day

Every year, students from different elementary schools in Middletown are selected to be “Mayor For A Day”.  Despite the COVID-19 pandemic and social distancing guidelines, Mayor Tony Perry and the Township Committee found a way to make the day extra special for our little mayors. A fire truck and police vehicle procession, along with Mayor Perry, arrived at each child's home. Mayor Perry then swore in each young mayor and asked them to conduct some important mayoral business such as signing their Oath of Office as well as a proclamation declaring Monday, May 25, 2020 as Memorial Day in Middletown Township.

Our 2020 Mayors were Paige Vuksanovich from Middletown Village, Sal Fiore from
Nut Swamp, Charlie Day from Fairview and Ayden Wiedman from New Monmouth. Congratulations and thank you for serving as Middletown’s Mayor For A Day!

Summer Recreation 2020 Update

A Message from Director of Recreation Janet Dellett:

It is with great sadness that I announce to you all we will not be running any of our Summer Recreation Camp programs for 2020, including all outsourced programs.  As you all know, the current health pandemic has severely impacted lives.  With so much uncertainty, it is simply not possible to be able to offer a quality, fun camp experience while adhering to the brief guidelines offered in order to decrease the risk of infection. The only way we can truly ensure no child in our care is exposed to this virus is to not hold camp.

In an effort to offer your child some type of fun for the summer, all registrants will be receiving our “Camp in a Box” adventure kit in exchange for the cost of the required t-shirts.  Inside this box will be 9-weeks worth of fun and adventure for each child!  Each week will have an online or virtual component that can be done at your leisure.

Do Not Touch the Baby Deer

A Message From Middletown Township Animal Control:

Please Do Not Disturb or Feed Fawns

Middletown Township has an extremely large population of deer. As spring has approached, so has the season when deer give birth. It is becoming increasingly common for our residents to find a fawn laying in their yard. This is perfectly normal. The mother deer has “placed” that baby there because she feels that it is safe.

In most cases, the fawn is placed there in the morning and the mother will return in the evening, but remains relatively nearby. Just because the mother cannot be seen, does not mean that the baby is abandoned. There is no need for the fawn to be removed. In fact, the fawn should not be handled for any reason or even approached.
