Middletown Welcomes Home Major Matthew Zilinski with Vehicle Procession

Welcome Home 1
Welcome Home 1
Welcome Home 3

On Saturday, April 4th the Township held a vehicle procession for Army Major Matthew Zilinksi who was returning home from an 11-month tour of duty in Kosovo. The procession started at Town Hall where Mayor Tony Perry and the Middletown Township Committee presented Major Zilinski with a flag that was flown in his honor.

Community members along the route displayed celebratory and patriotic signs, banners and flags welcoming him home. We imagine the greatest welcome home of all were the hugs he received from his wife
and three children.

A big thank you to the MTPD and MTFD for their assistance in coordinating this event!

Township Parks to Remain Open with Social Distancing Measures in Place

On Tuesday, April 7th, Governor Phil Murphy signed an Executive Order that closed all State parks and forests as well as County parks to help flatten the curve of the COVID-19 pandemic. As of April 8th, Township parks, including Ideal and Leonardo beaches, will remain open provided the community maintains social distancing.

"During this time, it is important to get fresh air and continue to exercise to improve both your physical and mental wellbeing," said Mayor Tony Perry. "We will keep our parks open as long as we can, but we need the community’s support in remaining cautious and sensible in how they use them."

As a reminder, all play structures/playgrounds remain closed, fields and courts are closed to any organized or unorganized team play, practices or training, and all field permits have been canceled and lights have been turned off.

We urge our community members to practice safe social distancing. For the most up-to-date information Township information regarding COVID-19, please visit www.middletownnj.org/coronavirus.

Middletown Township Eliminates Cash Payments During COVID-19 State of Emergency

Township Logo

The Middletown Township Committee announced that the Township will not accept any cash payments during the COVID-19 State of Emergency. The Committee voted to pass this resolution at the Monday, April 6th Virtual Workshop Meeting.

“The Township has been conducting essential governmental services while reducing or eliminating as much in person contact as possible due to potential exposures to COVD-19,” said Mayor Tony Perry. “In the interest of public safety, we want to eliminate any contact with cash since it changes hands multiple times a day and increases the risk factor.”

There are many easy alternatives available to make payments without any personal contact. As second quarter tax payments are due May 1, 2020, we ask that residents please put checks in the drop box located at the entrance by the playground at Croydon Hall (900 Leonardville Road, Leonardo). The drop box is checked daily.

Payments can also be mailed to Township of Middletown, 1 Kings Highway, Middletown, NJ 07748 (do not mail payments to Croydon Hall). For your convenience, taxes can be paid online through the Township’s payment portal. Click HERE to pay online. Please note there is an additional 3rd party fee when paying by credit card.

Please visit www.middletownnj.org/taxcollection for any updates.

Temporary Scheduled Water Treatment Change to End in Monmouth and Ocean Counties

On April 20th, New Jersey American Water will resume using chloramines in water treatment at its Swimming River Water Treatment Plant in Colts Neck and its Jumping Brook Water Treatment Plant in Neptune.

In February, as part of an annual routine maintenance program for its water distribution system, New Jersey American Water temporarily changed the water treatment process from a chloramine (combination) residual to free chlorine residual. The ten-week planned changeover to free chlorine residual enabled the company to perform routine maintenance.
