Mayors Wellness Campaign
The Mayors Wellness Campaign is Underway
The Mayors Wellness Campaign (MWC) is a statewide community health initiative that provides evidence-based tools and strategies for mayors and community leaders to help their residents achieve healthier lifestyles and to improve overall health and wellness in their communities. The New Jersey Health Care Quality Institute has been leading the Mayors Wellness Campaign in partnership with the New Jersey State League of Municipalities for over 12 years. The campaign includes over 400 participating communities, and is growing - Middletown is excited to be bringing this program to our community!
Schedule of Events
Activities will be held on the third Saturday of the month from May through October, beginning at 9:00am.
Activities are generally geared for families of all ages and abilities. Join the Mayor, Township Committee members, and other township employees on one or all these programs.
|May 18||Family Hike|
Join us for a leisurely hike through the woods of Poricy Park. Our guide will highlight the most notable parts of our hidden gem in Middletown.
|Jun 15||Family Bike Ride|
For this event, all participants will need both a bike in working order, as well as a helmet. This ride is an "out-and-back". We will be riding along the Henry Hudson Trail, part of the Monmouth County Park System. The ride will start at the Leonardo First Aid & Rescue Squad facility in Leonardo, then head east for approximately 3.25mi to the end of the trail at Popamora Point. We'll refill water bottles, enjoy the views of Sandy Hook Bay and NYC, then ride back to our starting point.
All levels are welcome - including training wheels, bike kid carriers, and more! If skills or levels vary drastically, we may split the group for a more advanced pace or a more leisurely, little-legged cruise.
